Hello! My Name is Corey Crowden

I’m a pretty chilled out guy with a passion for design. I love tinkering with things, watching movies and just enjoying life.

What or who inspired you to be a designer?

I’ve always known I was going to make things, I’m not too sure why, I’ve just always had a desire to be creative and love problem solving. Being a designer really was just the perfect fit.

Endeavour | Advertising Campaign

My campaign has a practical merit to enhance the environment of people living in cities spaces clouded by degrading and distasteful urban landscapes. Using a combination of large format banners, illuminated posters and other mediums such as magazine prints to tie the ad campaign together.

What are you up to in the design world at the moment?

Most days I get to kick back at home having a rad time. I’m working as a freelance designer and web developer; I get to work on some amazing projects with some great clients. Some days I’ll be working on a business’s identity and other days I’m developing an absolutely stunning and captivating website.

The other couple of days I work part time for a premiere childcare franchise in Melbourne as their primary graphic designer.

What is your favourite part of the design process?

I always enjoy the early stages in a project, that amazing feeling of accomplishment when you crack that design problem is simply the best.

You were really into all sorts of design disciplines at TGDS, branding, campaigning and even packaging. Have you a fav?

Honestly I really do enjoy many of the various fields of design. I love seeing a brand grow, seeing that initial logo design being applied to mediums like packaging, websites and marketing is just so rewarding. My favourite discipline however would have to be logo design, it’s such a meaningful part of any corporate identity and it’s such a great challenge projecting that businesses ideals through the logo.

Tell us anything you would like to about your featured works.

The Endeavour identity design and campaign was such a fun project. It started as bunch of concept sketches, practicing logo design around the word ‘endeavour’. This simple logo evolved into the fictional company ‘Endeavour’ advocating travel and adventure to sell its travel related products. This project ended up becoming a feature in my portfolio I loved it so much.

What did you love about studying design?

Studying Graphic Design is an amazing experience, for me I loved it because it teaches to design with purpose and meaning, all the while building your confidence in your abilities.

What’s your dream design job? Don’t hold back!

I love what I’m doing now, freelance design and web development is great. The freedom is amazing, the variety of work is great and I can say no to the projects I really don’t want to be involved with.

One day however I would really like to get into animation and video game design. To go from creating concept art to seeing my ideas come to life in an interactive medium is something I definitely dream of doing.

Thanks Corey
